Theme

The theme of the Encounter is taken from Jesus' parting message to his disciples in John 15. In his lifetime Augustine yearned for true friendship, eventually discovering that this is only possible when it is rooted in Christ. He continues to be a model for young people today who inhabit a world where communication is easy but where true communion - true friendship - often seems out of reach.
